Take the tail light housing out of the rear panel and attach it to the left harness.

10.7 should light the bulb. Tail lights are wire 14, but the brake lights are the same as the turn signals. You can try to clean the wiper, but be careful.

Dash lights, tail lights, brake lights, not working 1965 mustang probably either a bad ground (broken wire, rust) or a bad headlight switch. If the coil gets corroded, you will lose the dash lights. Possibly a bad lamp socket on that bucket.

You say the turn signals work so we know wires 5 & 9 are good, but the brake light and tail lights don't work. Wire 9 (green/orange) is the left turn signal. Dash lights can be a pain.

Could be a tail light socket problem. Alright so i realized tonight that my tail lights are not on when my headlights are on. Change out the bulbs with oem bulbs and replace the blown fuse.

I have a '65 mustang coupe, inline 6, that i can't get my instrument cluster lights to work. The brake light circuit goes from the stop switch (located up above the brake pedal) through the headlight switch, through the light bulbs to ground. Wire 5 (orange/blue) is the right turn signal.

If you have ever had trouble with the brake light switch, not coming on, staying on or just not operating correctly and are tired of playing with the one on. First use a test light and see if you have power on both sides of the brake switch with the pedal applied. I already searched for this and found that it could be a damaged wire which i will investigate tomorrow.

That should fix the problem. Wire 14 (black) is for the tail lights and license plate light. The blinker indicator, and high/low bean indicator work, as do the instruments, just not the lights.

Joined nov 24, 2009 · 61 posts. Use a test light on the tail light fuse, if yes then see if you have power at the sockets. The small fuse in the center sends power to the head light switch where it runs through the rheostat (dimmer).
